1: What is Antifa and who are they?

As of recently, the Feuerkrieg Division (a paramilitary neo-Nazi group) disbanded, this was all thanks to being infiltrated and exposed by anti-fascist activists [5] [5.1]. I am making this essay as I have recently finished my world history unit regarding WW2 and the rise of fascism + white supremacists and alt-right people (read: fascists) are still committing hate crimes as mainstream media refuses to report or take it into consideration [6] [7] [8] [9]. After creating then deleting documents and proposed projects I have decided to defend Antifa (as an anti-fascist) because ignorance is a violent element of society [10] & too many times have I seen people around me compare anti-fascism to literal fascism despite the historical context and evidence showing that Antifa was created in response to Adolf Hitler [11] and that comparing 2 polar opposite political philosophies is just….blantantly false and ignorant [12].

Anti-Fascists tend to normally make up marginalized communities such as People of Color, LGBTQ+ people, neurodivergent and disabled people and a diverse range of people from all walks of life. I make up a lot of these groups as I mentioned in my manifesto [13]. Something that I feel that I have to make very clear is this statement: the targets of fascists is vulnerable minorities and equivocating minorities to murderous bigots that actively seek the annihilation of me and people similar to me (from a marginalized perspective) is very dangerous [14] [15].

 

2: Free speech and contradictions 

  • A common argument that I constantly see in discussions regarding Antifa or any political view for that matter is free speech [1] (NOTE: The Rebel is a right-wing organization that is notorious for hosting hateful propaganda [2]). Free speech as a concept Is great on paper but doesn’t exactly work out in practice [3] [4]. If “free speech” were to be applied in full then the manifesto of the Christchurch shooter wouldn’t have been questioned at all [5] besides, as philosopher Karl Popper explained (paraphrased): “If we allow limitless tolerance then, people will destroy societies ability to tolerate” [6] [7]. This is very important when we take into consideration that hate crimes committed are usually because of White Nationalism [8] [9] or some kind of conspiracy theory being pushed [10] [11]. Never mind the fact that a lot of white nationalists come from high positions of power [12] [13] and actively move the GOP farther right [14] [15] [16].

To allow free speech to its fullest extreme is a contradiction that will inevitably destroy it, and free speech only really exists if it’s aligned with the ruling class and dominant ideas [17] [18] we have to defend each other [19] [20] from oppression and those who seek to justify oppression if we want to preserve free speech. At the end of the day: Just because we have free speech doesn’t mean it people won’t call you out and show you the door when you say something bigoted or ignorant [21] [22] [23] [24] [25].

3: From the streets to the wi-fi

Anti-fascism has gone from your street brawls in the cities [1] [2] [2.1] to doxxing those who live to see the day they get to dance on the graves of minorities [3] [4] [5]. This is a crucial shift in politics as younger generations (like me) as we are the ones that will deal with the first-hand effects of climate change [6], amplified political extremism on the right [7], and the decline of centrism as a political philosophy [8]. 

People are beginning to realize how deeply entrenched our schools and relationships fit into colonialism [9] and suppress our full potentials as students of the world thanks to The Banking Model of Education [10] and other intersecting systems of power, like the School to Prison pipeline [11] [11.1] [11.2] or the bullying of students that show “abnormal” behavior [12] [12.1] or are explicitly mentally ill [13] [14]. 

 

When discussing the systems constantly imposed on marginalized communities it’s important to present the ideological beliefs and how much that plays into the hierarchy of subjugating the “feeble-minded” over “the powerful” [15]. Within hierarchical societies, it is necessary to exploit others to make ends meet regardless if it’s agreed to or not [16] and it creates toxic relationships with people often going to extreme measures to justify and uphold these hierarchies [17] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23] [24] [25] [26].

4: Bash Back Harder!

Currently, we are in a global pandemic and landlords still leech off of their tenants [1], to add more fuel to the fire people are consciously defending environmental fascism (ecofascism) due to the climate crisis [2] and COVID-19 [3], and we are having our politicians force vulnerable people to go to work to appease the gods of the stock market [5] [6]. We are so fucked to the point where we are #1 on the list of COVID-19 cases internationally [7] yet we have the audacity of calling ourselves “The Greatest Nation on Earth” [8] [9]. 

Even though this country was founded on centuries of colonialism [10] [10.1] [10.2] and subjugation of all minorities deemed “inferior” [11] [12] [13] [14] these “inferior minorities” have always been people who aren’t: straight, white, able-bodied, neurotypical, “sane”, capitalist, racist, queerphobic, and colonialist, etc. [15]. On top of that if you were scared enough to destroy every part of your personality for the subjugation of society then you are tokenized [16] and expected to uphold the same systems of oppression that were specifically built to destroy you [17].

 

We have to confront and negate the notion that anti-fascism is just a bunch of white boys obsessive with feminist theory as we are a diverse group and sub-culture [18] [19]. To say that Antifa is the equivalent to their counterparts who they oppose by literally just existing [20] [21] [22] [24] [25] [25.1] [25.2] [25.3].

Bashing back, it’s something everyone has done…. when you stand up for your friends when they get bullied is bashing back [26]. If someone is purposely manipulating others to take control over their lives you speak out to defend them because they are a part of your community [27]. When people start violating your consent and the boundaries of others around you, you team up and discuss how to protect yourself and others from harm’s way [28] [29] [30]. Whenever people say they want to return to “normal” they are obedient and unknowingly justify crimes against human beings to justify wars [31]. Last of all, when a person in power spreads blatant misinformation [32] about other people or ideas that is a wake-up call to bash back! [33] [34].
